Throwing
- Overview
- Keep your feet and hips under your shoulders
- Use small quick steps, do not run with the ball
- Catch the ball first
- Catch with 1 hand while using two
- Have throwing hand in center of your body when you catch the ball, this allows for a quick exchange
- Four seam grip
- Exchange is to be done in front of your body not to the side
- Catch, Turn, Ball, Throw
- Think “Boom Boom”
- Keep your hips beneath the ball
- Close off your front side
- Have rhythm
- All movement should be going towards 2nd base or target
- Try to throw the ball through second base
- Work down hill
- Knee to Waist high through the bag
- Follow your throw
- Let your momentum take you to second base
- Do not recoil, follow all the way through
- Let your body release
- Five types
- Forward Step (middle) “T” Drill
- Small jab step forward
- Soon as left foot hits the ball is out

- Right 45 degree (right) “Backwards “F” Drill”
- Small jab to a 45 degree angle
- Left foot to the “F” and ball out


- Rake (left side of plate)
- Catch ball and bring the ball back to the center of the plate
- Your arm moves quicker than your body and feet can



- Third Base
- Bring your right foot behind and heel click to get your body directional towards third base.
- Step Behind
- Right 45 degree step through
- First Base
- Let momentum of ball take you towards first and pop turn your body
- Square your feet and shoulders towards first
- Throw down hill to make quick tag on the bag
- On low ball stay low sink your body into the ground and use the ground to gain power.
- Drop your left knee in a power action towards the ground and be prepared to throw.
- Allow yourself to fall over because of your follow through.

- One knee – partners, transfer in front, turn, break hands high (bow and arrow)

- Feet square – receive, keep feet stationary, rotate top
- Reverse step – square up, step with right foot, force arm to catch up with body
- Foot work – go through all three throwing methods
